Cooking & Crafting

I've been keeping up with my exercising. I really don't like it. I actually kind of hate it. As in, I find some of my first thoughts of the day be something like, "Dang it... It's a new day which means I have to fit in another workout." But I want to be strong. And healthy. And energized for the active Hunnybuns. And after growing a baby in my once-tight abdomen, a sweaty workout is what I need to put in.

And that means Jillian and I have been having some rockin' one-on-one time together. I think I have her entire Shred DVD memorized. Except for level 3. Woo! I still get winded with level 2. I have an amazing group of momma's on My Fitness Pals that have been incredibly supportive and encouraging. We all had our little baby within a month of each other. One of ladies suggested to me a website full of figure-friendly recipes.

Y'all, I've started cooking. I used to love it. But with my pregnancy and subsequent nausea issues, it just kinda died away and fast food became so much more appealing. Here's a few dishes we've had over the past week. These are tried and true! You'll love it!

Zesty Lime Shrimp and Avocado Salad

Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Vietnamese Shaking Beef (Bo Luc Lac) w/ lime dipping sauce

Overnight oatmeal smoothies! My favorite is the Pineapple Coconut Oatmeal Smoothie. I ended up not using the vanilla and chia seeds (I didn't feel like heading to the grocery store!) but also added spinach. Crazy tasty! But I'm definitely going to start adding the chia seeds for it's great health benefits and thickening agent. I really don't like runny smoothies. Pina Colada's anyone?

Oh yeah, and I've been getting my craft on with my apothecary jars. I haven't been feeling like making anything... and having a zero $ budget will put a damper on my Pinterest finds. But after Easter, I switched up these jars and put together a cute Spring and 4th of July version. My spring set was full of bright colored candies. For the July 4th jars I used great northern beans, red kidney beans and black beans (they look blue!) and flowers (I didn't take an updated pic!)
I love it I love it!

Sweet, teething Savannah calls the shots when it comes to church and nap time. I got some great tips from my Instagram friends to help with balancing my activeness in church and a grumpy tired infant.

Guess which toe I sprang. Now it's all sorts of puffy blue and red. It pairs well with my cute fresh pedi, don't you think?
I have to agree with the 3-year old at the Splashpad park today... "I love her fluffy cheeks!"

Yours truly, Me

  1. You'll have to share those tips you got from your Instagram friends. So far I've just used the "Go and hang in the foyer" method. And, I agree with the three year old too! She is such a cutie!

  2. You are so crafty! I love it. Also, please tell me how you do your hair like that!!! (I can't curl my hair. Like, at all.)

  3. Your healthy eats look delish! I love me some lettuce wraps! What asile did you find the chia seeds? I came across a recipe with them, and have no clue where to look. hunnybuns certainly has THE cutest fluffy cheeks ever! She is adorable!!

  4. Thanks ladies! Randi- I've seen this floating around the internet and my friend seems to swear by it but it's called the amber teething necklace. Google it and you can read all sorts of good stuff. Also, the all natural teething tablets is what a lot of momma's try and will say it has always worked for them. But I am totally clueless on how to get her to sleep during church because she only has ever really fallen asleep in a crib or bed.
Lauren- flip a curling iron upside down and wrap the entire hair strand around the outside of the barrel. So, you're not using the clamp. It's awesome.
And Becky-the Chia seeds can be found at super healthy food stores like Whole Foods or Sprouts. I never saw it a Tom Thumb or Kroger.

  5. Hey! you look great! I don't think you need to be in a diet. I hate exercising too... I know it's good for our health but it's so hard or i am ssssoooooo lazy! haha but as you say it feels so great after doing it!

  6. Spinach smoothies are my FAVORITE!! Some how the odd green coloring doesn't bother me either. Love the 4th of july decorations! I'm horrible at putting out seasonal decorations (other than a christmas tree) cause I feel like if I decorate for halloween i'll have to deorate for easter and thanksgiving and since I have none of the above, i just don't do it. Love your ideas though! Can't wait to see what else you've done! :)
