Happy Halloween!

This year we enjoyed our long standing tradition of Halloween costumes as a family of Super Hero's. It was so exciting to add a mini Crossley into the mix. It was Batgirl's first Halloween! I got in touch with my crafty side and spent the week putting together tutu's and felt logo's. No-sew.... my type of project ;-)
A group of the dental students got together for pumpkin carving and BBQ. Aaron is truly blessed with having the most fun, sweet classmates. A few of the darling babies dressed up for the party :)
....and there she goes!
Trick-or-Treating to our neighbor's. She was having a ball with admiring all of the holiday decor. I have no idea where she gets it from.
I can't quite tell if Savannah enjoyed herself at the church's trunk-or-treat.
Year #1: Grease's Danny & Sandy
#2: WWII Soldier and his Nurse
#3: Flapper girl and Gangster

Savannah Finds Her Voice!

Completely absorbed in delicious babyness.
The snuggles. The unsure grunts when she's having her diaper changed. High and low-pitched coo's. The incredibly adorable attempts to laugh by spewing out forced coughs.
And my new favorite - after waking up, she'll see my figure and her eyes will scan up towards my face. After a moment she'll spill a huge grin. It's not fair how often she steals my heart.
So in love.

Movin' like a Baby

Life with Savannah simply gets better and better.
With each new day, it's the smallest movements and gestures that are bringing about the most joy in my new life as her mama. Sometimes, I'll get lucky enough to snap a photo or video clip of a flashing smile or a darling 'coo' that melts my soul. I'm finding it easier to indulge in recognizing and cherishing the moment.

Yesterday, Hunnybuns and I were having a super exciting one-sided conversation together when she suddenly awakened and wanted to share the love. Her eyes met mine and she just let loose on all things lovely and adorable. I about died. And when I thought my heart couldn't take this squeeze...she kept going! My hands scrambled to find my phone. Amc would love to see his little one throwing around so many smiles and coo's .
After almost getting lost in the worry of catching it on camera,

I

just.

let.

go.

I wanted to fully appreciate and lose myself in this moment with her. And oooh...I was overcompensated on the return. I felt a beautiful and cleansing feeling. As I stared into her eyes, I dwelt on the reality that not too long ago this little love of mine was with her Heavenly Father. And when I wondered if she had ever felt excited to come here to earth and join our family, my heart ached with a spirit of gratitude as she returned another wide-mouth grin. I died again. I made a promise to myself to always appreciate the small things with those that I love most.

I never know when this moment may be my last.

Here's to loving the small moments with our Savannah Jane.

I'm a Lucky Girl

It's humbling and refreshing to check back to see where I've come from, to see how I've evolved into the woman that I am. To see how my passions and personality have changed in more ways than one...for the better. Particularly, in the relationships I share with my family. I've experienced handfuls of the typical bouts that these relationships do, with no doubt, produce. I've felt the intense disappointment and sadness when I've had misunderstandings with those I love and have realized afterward that I failed to be my best self or that my intentions may have been misunderstood.
Today, I see these photos of my entire family together and I know I'm a lucky girl, daughter, sister, and wife for more reasons than I can fit into this blog post. I feel a deep and honest happiness in my heart and that's what family is all about. Without happiness, life couldn't possibly be as rewarding, fulfilling, and fun as the version I'm living right now.
I included lots of photos of the incredibly fun times Aaron and I had with my family in Dallas to celebrate Papa Moon's 50th birthday.

A shameless amount of trips to our favorite Mexi fast food place, Tacobueno, with my sistahs.
Rich and creamy. Scoops of sweet, satisfyingly chilled chunks of heaven in a carton... It's a beloved Texas staple.
Meet AMC....
The ever glorious pre-packaged fudge brownie's can always put an instant smile on my sweetheart's lips. Sweet-treat hunting is always done within a few moments of arriving at the Moon's. Thank you Dad. That's right. Mom, I hate to leave you out of the fun, but we all know who's the junk-food junkie in the home.

He's simply darling, isn't he? Yes. I let him get away with eating cookies (or whatever dessert is leftover from the night before) for nearly every breakfast. And yes. I poke fun at him for it. But, I still let him. Simply put, he looks that good.
Movies.
Fro-yo. Basically free of fat and calories and everything else wrong in this world.
And the main event! Dad's surprise birthday party that we had been scheming! On the way to the Dallas temple, my parents traditionally head to the nearest Tacobueno (this is one of those Texas things you non-resident bloggettes are missing out on.) We were feeling quite festive and brought with us a ton of black 50th b-day balloons. Close friends and family showed up shortly before the parentals arrived. The picture below captures my dad's confused expression before a huge grin covered his face.
Rather than add commentary along the way, I thought I would just run the series of pics from the event. I hope you enjoy!
After Tacobueno, the party headed over to the Moon home where we mingled, played the best games of pictionary I  have ever played (thank you mom for this re-introduction. I have been missing out!), and enjoyed the favorite dessert of the the birthday boy!
You, naughty Marlys you. This is so not kosher.
My sister Stephanie made a delicious Strawberry-Coconut Cheesecake accompanied by a Turtle Pecan Cheesecake that I baked. It's possible I may not be returning to the Cheesecake Factory for my luxury slice of cheesecake when my pride self is convinced I can make a pretty darn good knock-off.
Recipe post to come : )
I have to blog this. So, I remember walking home from grade school and I was chatting with girlfriend about who knows what. In the conversation I told my little friend that I thought my dad was handsome (I am convinced thats every little girl must think their dad is handsome.) Without hesitation the girl responded with, "But he's bald." Hahaha. This was news to me!  I didn't believe her and had no idea that he was! I felt really proud of myself for seeing past flaws. I knew I'd be okay if my guy went bald.
Ihop for a yummy breakfast. Prior to the embarrassing amount of cheesecake I ingested the night before I was regularly a 4-stack kind of gal.
I really love them all...but like they say "You can choose your friends but you can't choose your relatives!" {wink, wink}

My Sistah's Baby Shower!!

Woop woop! My sister Stephanie skipped out on her hubby for the week and caught a flight home to Dallas for my dad's 50th birthday celebration AND we were thrilled to throw a baby shower for her! This is her first pregnancy and I'm not gonna lie...I'm pretty darn excited to meet this little nephew of mine, Parker James Anderson. A stud in the making. Understandably. He'll have a part of my genes.
The baby shower theme was reflected in the cherry red and aqua blue color that made her heart skip a few beats. She's still unsure about a specific theme. By the looks of her belly, she has time to change her mind. The shower was a great joint effort between my mom, Jessica Peterson (Steph's best friend) and myself.  Also, a special thanks also to Sister Moline (family friend since forever) for being so gracious to host the shower in her home and also to the no-fail-Bakerella, Julianne, for making the yummiest dessert pizza on the fly.
Mmm. And a yummy cupcake tower that I was super anxious about making. I had never been a fabulous capcake baker. They were always either exploding from their wrappers or the extreme opposite in looking like mini brownie bites nestled in a cupcake liner. Much to my pleasure (and ego!) they looked super cute with a beautifully bright frosting and nicely contrasting sprinkles. I placed a monogram-stamped fondant piece on top for the little guy ('PJ'). I doubt he'll go by the name PJ. More on these colorful delectables later on ;-)
As the girls arrived, they were given an itty-bitty onesie and they used fabric markers to decorate them into something creative for the Steph's new arrival. Most of us keeled over at the thought of our creativity being recorded.... After they were finished, they were each told to judge the onesie's for a winner in 3 separate categories. 1.)Sweetest  2.)Most Clever  3.) Best All Around
I'm so impressed with Julianne's creativity! She won the category for Best All Around. (I wish we snapped a photo of the ''Beach Bum"!)
Ooh, lookey here!! I won "Sweetest"! hehehe....
Aunt Marlys: "iPood"
Too cute!
I just love her and her cute baby belly! I'm sure all of you will agree that her petite-shaped body pulls it off so well. I wish she lived much closer... (I'll get her back in 4 years!)
Remember those cute cupcakes I made?
WELL, not so cute on the face! It was downhill soon after we decided to grab a cute family photo. Steph smooshed it into Britt. Good thing Britt believes in an 'eye for an eye' and had no reservations with continuing this domino effect.
Mom had to join the fun and included me in this smurfing festivity (and yes, that's totally not a word.)
Toxic amounts of laughing. What would I do without these lovely ladies in my life?

Adventure Date Night!

My girlfriend Becky did such a FAB job with blogging our group adventure date night that I couldn't resist using her blog post! The video footage was the prefect idea! I would have completely forgotten! She made some super-duper cute photo edits using picnik.com. GREAT website. I highly recommend it.
First things first regarding these date nights...the invite!! I oh-so-sneakily placed Aaron's invitation next to his bathroom sink the night before our date. The following morning was my day off work... so I decided the morning surprise of finding this lovely invitation for an evening full of adventures would top a 6am hand delivery from the not-so-hott-in-the-morning wife ;-)
I knew he would be filled with anticipation all day at school!
Take it away Becky!

We had such a blast Valentine's Day weekend with these two fun loving couples! The clever cutie pie, Janene suggested we take our hubbys out on an adventurous date. With the help of TheDatingDivas.com, we got in touch with our inner cupids to create an unforgettable date night.
FIRST, we met up at the Crossley Manor, and each boy was given a clue about a restaurant. Aaron and Todd had poems. And Brian had pictures (since he can't read).

They are so confused!
Ding! Ding! Ding! They figured it out.

Once they figured out the restaurant clues, the boys got to decide which one they wanted to go eat at. They chose Cafe Del Rio, which led us to our NEXT adventure... The car ride.
Driver:
(Oh. My. Isn't he gorgeous?! <3 The driver's wife)
Car Tasks: Everyone had to draw a task out of the envelope.
One task was for everyone to jump out of the car at a red light and start dancing. This was awesome!

I love how Emily is having a fabulous time shaking her preggo belly! She is too cute!
My car task:
To hold up this sign at the car behind us. An old grandpa was squinting to read it. Once he did, he gave me a thumbs up. I'm glad he chose that finger.

Janene's car task was to reenact an engagement proposal. And here we have Aaron proposing. We got a couple of car honks out of this!
We laughed our little booties off, and drove off quickly before anyone realized that it was hoax!

Have you ever been shot by one of Cupid's arrows?
Have you ever pretended to BE Cupid?
This was Brian's task. And it was certainly a Laugh Out Loud moment!!
Now at the restaurant we each had to draw a different task to do, as well.
The restaurant tasks were confidential. Since none of us knew who had what task, it made things interesting bu wondering why someone is saying random things. For example, one task was to mention MC Hammer at least 3 times during dinner. It was too funny! Brian's task was to ask the waitor what was the closest drink they had to Love Potion #9. Our waitor was a complete DUD. He disappeared after Brian asked that. We think that scared him off. Oh, well. We still had great time.
The girlies! I heart these two.
Note: Brian's horseback riding skill was not an official restaurant task. However, it was HILARIOUS, and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!
A door my size! Whoop! Whoop!
After dinner, the boys got to choose what activity they wanted to do next. They chose to go back to the Crossley Manor for games and ice cream sundaes!
Great choice boys... This was such a fun date night! TheDatingDivas.com has some great ideas. We look forward to more good times with our hubbys and friends!
We hope you had an amazing Valentines in celebrating your love!
Yours truly, Me
